At Mira Travels we value our commitment to achieve our business goals in a sustainable manner. We believe that the responsible practice of sustainable tourism will create the positive effects on local communities, while it will reduce negative social and environmental impacts of tourism. Our motto is “Wonderful Holidays with Responsible Experiences”.
When developing our tour programs, we keep in mind to include responsible activities. Mira Travels supports International Trade Centre (ITC)’s community based tourism projects in Kayah State of Myanmar. Through our Kayah tour products, tourists will enjoy the opportunity to learn authentic and unspoiled cultures of Myanmar’s some minority people. We firmly believe that our products will contribute positively to economy of local ethnic communities beyond sightseeing.
Whenever possible, we utilize services of reliable local suppliers such as boats, restaurants, souvenir shops and local tour guides to support their incomes. In our tours, we integrate green activities such as walking, bicycling and taking a trishaw or horse carts etc to reduce carbon footprint. At our office, we introduce green practices for saving water, energy and paper.
Giving back is part of our corporate DNA. Mira Travels has been supporting charities and local communities through its donations and tour programs as well as via MiraHOPE Foundation. The foundation focuses on educational development of poor children in Myanmar. We have been supporting primary education of three students in Irrawaddy Division in a five-year sponsorship.
Mira Travels is one of the of Myanmar Green Tourism Team (MGTT) which aims to promote forest restoration in the country. Myanmar once used to be covered by dense forests but reckless commercial production of woods lead to widespread deforestation across the country resulting in major disasters such as floods. MGTT works with government and NGOs to promote awareness on importance of green restoration.
